General Information

Attendees will participate in BIE's classic PBL 101 three-day workshop, which engages them in learning the principles for designing, assessing and managing CCSS aligned projects as well as using performance assessments to judge the rigorous work.

Each day of the conference will launch with a dynamic keynote speaker at the FTK 9th Grade Campus Gym. Participants will be on the FTK 9th grade campus for the remainder of the conference each day.

The district will not be compensating our 75 teachers for their attendance. The district will offer these 75 registered teachers 1.3 semester units as professional growth credit! This is an optional professional development opportunity. However, we do ask that if you do indeed register, you understand it is a three day commitment. Registering and only committing to one day takes a spot away from another colleague so please make sure you are available and committed for ALL 3 days. At the end of the workshop, you will have a project ready for to refine and implement in the classroom.

This optional professional development opportunity will give some of our teachers time to get a jump start on PBL in their classrooms as a way to implementing new standards and expectations during our large scale CCSS 2014-2015 adoption. If you are interested in getting a head start and learning before you get busy in the classroom, please consider joining us.
