Professional Development Day

Presented by San Leandro Unified School District Educational Services

PD registration is now closed.
If you missed the registration, please visit the Help Desk at FTK Campus's Main Office (1st Floor) on the morning of October 4th for available workshops.

Since 2014, San Leandro Unified has been on a mission to bring high quality learning experiences to our over 9,000 TK-12 students through Project Based Learning. We want to be able to tell a story of transformation, innovation, collaboration, and the love of learning. To that end, we are coming together as an organization for a day of learning and professional growth so that we can find out the answer to this question: What key practices help PBL projects go from good to great?

Our theory is that we can answer this question by inviting teacher-leaders, administrators, and specialists to share their practices and facilitate our professional learning spaces as we workshop our projects. We know the answers lie within the expertise of this district.

This event is presented by:

San Leandro Unified -
Educational Services Division

Each AM institute session will follow a workshop model where you will refresh yourself on PBL elements, dive deep into one aspect of your project, and have the opportunity to refine your project and get feedback from peers. It’s time dedicated to teachers talking to teachers about their work!

All educators should bring the following:
1. A PBL project plan or idea that you’d like to refine
2. A charged laptop
3. Any resources you need for refining your project (Examples include: samples of student work, planning docs, etc)

TThe following groups have specifically designed morning sessions, which are outlined in the workshop catalog:

  1. TK -12
  2. New Teachers
Please sign up for "New Teacher Session: Building a PBL Culture in your Classroom Right from the Start". New teachers are not expected to have a project to refine at this point, but will attend the workshop that focuses on building the culture in their classrooms that will support PBL projects.)
  3. Secondary Math Teachers
  4. Nurses
  5. PE Specialists and Physical Education Teachers
  6. Art Specialists
  7. Music Specialists
